it's the 9th week of selling books, the money is decent, well better than decent,i'm supposed to be working right now, but i have to register for classes in a couple hours so im just messing around. even if at the end of the summer i end up owing the company money, although unlikely, i'd still be happy. so far i'm having an awesome time here in iowa, south dakota, and nebraska (yes, i work all three states, and i'm typing this in the University of South Dakota) i probably talked to thousands of people already and they've been nice for the most part. one of my roomates quit early on, and the other first year roomate is still hanging on, he hasnt been working for the past couple weeks since he got a hernia, so it's been quiet back at the HQ. doing this job would really make you rejection proof, because you know there are people out there who are just the rotten apples, and there's nothing you can do about that, other people invite you into their houses even before you knock. what i've learned is that you have to control the controllables, meaning working your hardest to get to the most people, but you can't control who buys and who doesn't. let the law of averages work for you. people say the way i talk has gotten better, but i don't really notice that. out here you gotta deal with evil dogs, at the start of the summer, i used to think they were really cute, but now i just kick them when the owner's not looking. hehe. luckily i havent been bit yet. and omg, the bugs! there are so many mosquitos and these huge wasp things are everywhere, there are literally the size of your hand!
hey, what do you call a room with 32 iowans?....a full set of teeth!
j\k, people arent as redneck as i thought they would be out here, everyone is just so white.
i think i might do this again next summer, depending on how i feel at the end. anyways, i'll tell you guys a couple stories when i get back to california.

this southwestern thing is so big, sometimes it could be tiring, but its something i enjoy. i have to memorize my sales talk in a week. i still have to do my mission statement and stuff. so much to do. i found out im going to the iowa/nebraska area, and we're leaving immediately after finals. i have to get a car somehow...i dont wanna bring mine cuz the insurance is like $$$$$$$$$$$$. so it wouldnt really be worth it then. my options are to walk, bike, or buy a car when i get there.

Guess who I'm talking about:
"If I try to use human influence strategies and tactics of how to get other people to do what I want, to work better, to be more motivated, to like me and each other - while my character is fundamentally flawed, marked by duplicity or incincerity - then, in the long run, I cannot be successful. My duplicity will breed distrust, and every thing I do - even using so-called good human relations techniques - will be percieved as manipulative. It simply makes no difference how good the rhetoric is or even how good the intentions are; if there is little or no trust, there is no foundation of permanent success. Only basic goodness gives life to my technique."

yeah i got another A on my mktg test! i went home this weekend for mother's day and we ate at this chinese restaurant in LA. we had like so many different dishes, we had to "da bao" every one of them so we ended up leaving the restaurant with everybody holding two bags of leftovers...it was hilarious and everyone was staring at us. we actually took more away than we ordered cuz we found some raw shrimp on the side of a dish and the manager came and apologized and made us another one and gave us free sodas and ice cream. later i talked to cindy about her mother's day, and oddly enough, she stole some of my luck! she also got free sodas and stuff.

bloop bloop bloop...anyways, nothing really going on except another marketing midterm thursday, which is also the day im going home, which is also the day i get my huge credit card statement, which is also the day i finally receive my new HP printer to replace the one that broke a long time ago. I felt so bad asking jason everytime i needed to use his printer, im sure he's sick of it already. so every once in a while i go next door to ask them if i could their printer.
last wednesday (or thursday morning) was interesting, at like 2am, when i was procrastinating editing a paper during rainy weather, i had to use the bathroom, and right when i was about to walk out, the lights and all the power just went out. i go back to my room to find that my laptop is the only source of light in the apartment, i grabbed my flashlight and chris came out too. we decided to roam the complex and met a someone who was locked out of their room so we let her use our phone. later, when we were on the top floors, we saw other people downstairs with flashlights some distance away, we pretended to do morse code, i tried SOS for fun but failed miserably. we went down the the community center which had emergency lights on and i got a call from jason on my cell asking where we were, he sounded kinda frustrated at me or something, but he always sounds like that. there was nothing to do, so we just went back in the dark. where we saw lightning and counted the seconds until we heard the thunder. (5 seconds = 1 mile)

im off to my finance study thing soon...i dont think ive ever studied this much for a single test. im practically doing every problem in the book. lately ive been interested in this intern thing for the summer, without going into too much detail, its basically learning how to market products and stuff, if i get it i would have to go out of state to do this. i dont think i had to, but for the internship interviews, i went to men's express yesterday and bought two shirts and a tie for about $120, one shirt is yellow and the other is striped purple (cindy picked this one) and the tie is blue and yellow. theyre nice but im having cognitive dissonance (for you marketing people. which for the test i got an A on btw!!!)

i dun wanna do anything, i have a midterm in project management tomorrow and its supposed to be easy not just because its open book and computer, but the material is like stuff you should already know. Like leaders have to have good communication skills and they must motivate the workers etc etc. Why are they teaching this stuff to us? then after that i have to go to the business office to talk about doing this 3 day freshman orientation thing in the summer.
i guess my hopes of going to france next year is going to be postponed to after the taiwan program. my dad talked me out of it and he had a really good reason. i guess i'll just have to wait.
i should be studying right now but im gonna play age of empires instead...its all ur fault cindy!
